After a long, cold and dark winter, Little Bear wakes up. He has a head full of plans. Together with Big Bear he wants to bake pancakes, build a very big new tree house ... And drink warm milk with honey every night. But ... Big Bear is not here. Little Bear is so sad that his tummy hurts. His friends do their best to make him happy again. Yet everyone knows that Little Bear often thinks of Big Bear. That's okay. With his friends he is allowed to show his sadness.
Reviews:
'A beautiful, true-to-life story that is well-written and particularly beautifully portrayed.' (Leesplezier.net)
'Frank Daenen wrote the striking words as well as drew the touching illustrations of this picture book. His sentences are heroic and simple, and touch the heart. The drawings, especially the tears and defeated attitude of Little Bear change in a beautiful, subtle way to a raised head. A moving story about saying goodbye, about letting go, about moving on and about the importance of friendship.' (NBD Biblion, March 2021)
'The rich illustrations let the book speak and create tremendous atmosphere. With each illustration there is also much more to tell than the text contained in the book. [...] So this is a book for those who want to work around being sad, for those who want to make the topic of grief discussable, or for those just looking for a beautiful picture book for fall.'
