De Eenhoorn publishes high quality picture books, books for young readers, fiction for the age of 7 up to 15 and gift books for adults.

The philosophy of the publishing house can be summarized in three main points: original stories that appeal to both children and adults, unique illustrations and an original design.

Not surprisingly, the publishing house has won numerous prizes. In Belgium, De Eenhoorn won the Book Peacock, the prize for the best illustrations, twelve times. In the Netherlands, De Eenhoorn has won the Silver Slate- Pensil (‘Zilveren Griffel’) for the text ten times and the Golden Palette (‘Gulden Palet’) for the illustrations two times. In 2022 De Eenhoorn also won the Bronze Pencil (‘Bronzen Penseel’) for the illustrations. Abroad, De Eenhoorn won the prestigious Bologna Ragazzi Award and several White Ravens.

De Eenhoorn publishes 50 new titles every year,. Its backlist shows over 850 titles. More than 700 translation rights have been sold to publishing houses all around the world.
